Amazon’s architects from NBBJ have told city officials that the company’s is intent on “building a neighborhood, not a campus” — integrating its new project into the surrounding neighborhood.

Amazon’s sale on Wednesday is more than a sale — it’s a membership drive for its Amazon Prime program.?While it will be a boom for Amazon if it can replicate a big sale in July on the same order of magnitude as Black Friday, this is also about adding members to that program, which is seen by the retailer as a cornerstone to gaining customer loyalty.

Amazon’s side: “These individuals were not terminated for talking publicly about working conditions or safety, but rather, for violating — often repeatedly — policies, such as intimidation, physical distancing and more,” an Amazon spokesperson told GeekWire. “We support every employees’ right to criticize or protest their employer’s working conditions, but that does not come with blanket immunity against any and all internal policies. We look forward to explaining in more detail in our response to the Senators’ letter.”

Amazon’s ability to stay entrepreneurial, even as it has grown to nearly 270,000 employees, is certainly phenomenal.
